Airbrushed artwork (Matson)
PROJECT
With our company's new acquisition of Alaska shipping routes, new art was needed for multiple introductory venues.
CHALLENGE
Acquisition included former company's vessels, which wouldn't be Matson re-branded for months.
SOLUTION
Researched and obtained quality photo of Alaska's Glacier Bay, in which the viewpoint and light source/quality were consistent with selected company ship image. Multiple layers in Photoshop each targeted and fine-tuned water color, break waves, etc.
RESULTS
Bright, appealing image with received raves from even Alaska-based employees.
Globe graphic (Matson)
PROJECT
In fulfilling graphics for a shipping company, maps and globes showing routes and ports-of-call are core components for a variety of marketing materials. An all-purpose, high-end visual for multiple venues was needed.
CHALLENGE
Specific port route connections can be subject to quick changes. Additionally, specific regions or functions often have to be highlighted on an as-needed basis.
SOLUTION
Created a series of layers in Illustrator for the art --- globe background, land passes, routes, ports of call and lettering -- and imported each layer separately into Photoshop as 'smart' (live) objects. Retaining vector-editing capabilities, individual layers could then be readily modified as needed without interfering with other artwork components.
RESULTS
A quality, easy-adapted graphic used in a variety of venues, including sales collateral and company website.
Corporate-sponsored event promotion (CapGemini)
PROJECT
Provide simple yet sophisticated graphic for posters and invitations for high-profile conference.
CHALLENGE
Materials needed same-day; file size needed to be small. Plus, core materials of conference not conducive to inviting visuals.
SOLUTION
Focus visual on more recreational aspect of the conference -- the golf outing --- to entice participation. And to expedite production schedules, small size of vector-based art allowed simplified transmittal and local printing.
RESULTS
Internal client and Microsoft partners delighted with results. Capacity attendance.
Bioinformatics company off-site event promotion (DoubleTwist)
PROJECT
Deliver art for multiple venues -- posters, email communications and on-site T-shirts -- for promotion of large company event.
CHALLENGE
Thematically combining bioinformatics company with amusement park outing.
SOLUTION
Play on the fun of the venue, an amusement park with its roller-coaster rides. Here, it starts as a DNA strand, and the passengers, representing company employees, unravel the strand to create a pathway. -- and have it turns into a DNA strand, to use in invitations, signage and gift T-shirts.
RESULTS
Management, employees, even strangers at the event loved the graphic and its meaning. Vector format allowed for simpler PMS printing and more solid brand color recognition.

"CLIKMAN"/CLIK COMMUNICATIONS
An emerging graphics design firm in NYC needed their company avatar "Clikman" animated. I provided a series of motions graphics for their identity/introduction presentation.
"RUBIX CUBE" DATA MODEL/JACK MORTON
In realizing this representation of a complicated database, a Rubix Cube model was juxtaposed with a live-action model speaking to the data processing network.
"PRESIDENT'S CLOCK"/BEAR, STEARNS
As the primary metaphor for an internal branding initiative, I recreated an animated 3D version of a real clock from our company's president's office. Multiple perspectives and camera motions captured the importance of collaborative effort.
