Comprehensive website refresh (Matson)
PROJECT
Provide a refresh of site architecture, UI structure/components and overall look & feel.
CHALLENGE
Multiple owners (Customer Service, Public Relations, Marketing, Finance, etc); limited resources.
SOLUTION
1. Reviewed user surveys for target functionalities. 2. Met with department reps to gain consensus on home page content and explain refresh objectives. 3. Met with development team to discuss UI/site requirements and establish wireframe renderings of website layers. 4. Photoshopped mockups. 5. Provided wireframe and mockups to department reps for feedback and fine-tuning. 6. Began implementation, testing sample pages before horizontal development. 7. Provided pre-prod site for final review and edits. 8. Q/A review on multiple browsers. 9. Released live.
RESULTS
When released over five years ago, the matson.com site established itself as one of the best-looking and most customer-oriented websites in the shipping industry. Its functionality still remains strong.
Mobile app development (Matson)
PROJECT
Launch a series of mobile applications for Matson customers to enable online shipping and tracking of personal automobiles.
CHALLENGE
Delivery meant to simplify vs. complicate shipment process. Promotional and related branded visuals needed to be provided.
SOLUTION
For the actual mobile app, designed (and fulfilled by our talented dev team) an intuitive UI to take user through easy-to-follow ordering, tracking and confirmation stages. Additionally, smart phone icons, Apple/Android store marquis, and promotional "Track My Auto" on-site poster (with QV code) provided. All design components consistent with greater Matson guidelines.

Mobile app delivery ushered in a new level of technology and customer care for Matson.
Customer auto section re-design (Matson)

Update and refresh existing "Ship My Auto" section to new website style guidelines.
CHALLENGE
Many of "Ship My Auto" section's UI needs unique within matson.com
SOLUTION
Keep loyal to existing website guidelines, structure and design considerations, while offering complementary additions, still brand-consistent, to section-specific concerns.
RESULTS
Redesign offered revitalized, consistent look while providing intuitive customer UI experience.
Third party content migration (Matson)
PROJECT
One of our Pacific shipping company's successful acquisitions was that of South Pacific venues. Their original website got a minimal re-branding, but all content recently needed to be brought onto the primary company website.
CHALLENGE
The previous company's site had a completely different architecture and page design/structure. Contact sources for customers, due to geography subdivisions, were unique to our standard web structure methodology.
SOLUTION
Met in-person and via phone with SoPac management to discuss their needs. Then, provided a project breakdown (Excel project spreadsheets and Photoshop mockups) of how their original content would be realigned in a manner more consistent with Matson UI and branding, while accommodating specific unique web section needs in a few more drilled-down situations.
RESULTS
Brand consistency for South Pacific aligned as part of Matson; workflow integrated into company's web development process. And, as one SoPac manager commented, "now we feel like part of the family."
