Software platform branding and packaging (PowerEasy)
PROJECT
The client, a developer of a new Executive Support System (ESS) software, needed a new high-impact logo and package design for their new product tailored for Apple-platform systems.
CHALLENGE
Visual affiliation with Apple products and requested 'waterfall' theme required; yet branding needed to stand on its own.
SOLUTION
Clean, large areas of white space showcase copy and branding graphics. Vector-based and jewel-tone logos provide simplicity and provide unique brand across varied media.
RESULTS

Logo creation for newly-formed company subsidiary (Matson)
PROJECT
With the looming introduction of Matson Logistics, the intermodal subsidiary of ocean transportation company Matson, a subsidiary logo and ancillary design style guidelines needed to be established for multiple-platform branding.
CHALLENGE
Logo both needed to stand alone as an aggregate of multiple former company subdivisions, but still resonate visually as a subsidiary to Matson.
SOLUTION
Provided a series of three presentations to executive team showcasing several logo options. The final selection above, was chosen given the letters' right-angle geometry nicely complementing the roundness of our primary logo.
RESULTS
A new brand is created. Anticipated/planned-for multiple delivery platforms -- building signage, business cards, presentations, website, collateral -- all implemented with excellent results. Executive team very satisfied.
Logoseal creation for varied milestones (Matson)
PROJECT
Create logo-seal to accompany the Matson logo in a variety of uses for three milestones: the company's 125th anniversary, their 20th year of serving Guam, and ten years of service in a highly successful China-Long Beach express service.
CHALLENGE
The logoseals needed to: 1. Work in a variety of platforms (print ads, website materials, container placement, video, collateral, etc); 2. Work collaboratively with, yet still be able to stand independently, of our main company logo.
SOLUTION
1. During design development and after final art approval, kept all images vector-based, and colors solid and consistent with Matson branding web/print/Pantone specifications. 2. Reinforced existing style guidelines for Matson logo use and created a selection of approved logo/logoseal co-placements.
RESULT
Each logoseal was implemented in a wide array of products and delivery methods, yet always looked professional, consistent and "Matson-y."

Historic art usage (Matson)
PROJECT
For a creative director, it was a genuine treat to have a company with such a rich history, and full repository of historic art, as with Matson. As an ongoing part of the company's identity, promotion and usage of historic art was a vital means to showcase their long-term success.
CHALLENGE
As a company who also strategizes and plans for the future, historic art needed to be appropriately positioned.
SOLUTION
Incorporate historic art into non-business, more emotionally-connected venues, such as special events, holidays, or as part of a gift.
RESULTS
The story and illustration of the company's history stayed alive and vital, effectively complementing vs. competing with its modern advances.
Social media launch & maintenance (Matson)
PROJECT
Launch and provide ongoing maintenance of company’s visual social media presence.
CHALLENGE
Unfamiliar with nuances of Facebook business-oriented platform; creating proper visual tone to embody company online presence.
SOLUTION
Social media consulting agency was contracted for start-up guidance and general suggestions. Online education for specific graphic needs. Understanding of Matson culture and values, coupled with personal social media experience, allowed a translation of online identity that rang true with company branding.
RESULTS
The community involvement, employee volunteerism, company sponsorship, new business acquisitions and coverage of special events reflect the spirit of the Matson culture. Followers and posting "likes" are still growing.
