Sales brochure for new service (Matson)
PROJECT
With company's acquisition of shipping routes to/from Alaska, marketing materials were needed to promote it -- including sales collaterals.
CHALLENGE
A need for both new and existing customers to explain how this new service would integrate into the greater shipping structure of Matson. Additionally, in its infancy, the acquisition lacked any conventional visual branding assets, including ships or any signage.
SOLUTION
Known for its tropical ports-of-call, Matson's entrance into Alaska provided an opportunity for compelling visual counterpoint. The brochure cover, powerful in its simplicity, conveyed that excitement, with the branded ship Photoshopped into modified stock photography of Alaska's waterfront wilderness. The interior spread described both in words and graphics Matson's standing services (left side) and how they would integrate our new Alaska service (right side).
RESULTS
Company's new Alaska service successfully branded, with imagery from brochure used in multiple print and online venues. Information of new services provided in a clear and compelling manner. Marketing and sales reps very happy with results.
Sales brochure for new genomic database (DoubleTwist)
PROJECT
My bioinformatics company had finished its genome database software package and was ready to begin selling it. Sales force needed supporting collateral.
CHALLENGE
Conveying high-level statistical and technological nuances to a broad segment of buyers and investors, including non-scientific agencies and individuals.
SOLUTION
Taking some graphics developed by our ad agency, developed a layout based on simplicity vs. complexity. The jewel-like DNA strand offered a powerful opening visual; the product description and content flow provided a graphic step-by-step on process and results.
RESULTS
Extremely popular reception by sales staff and Marketing. Pursuant products' collateral were aligned with design flow and branding.
Trade show booth (Matson)
PROJECT
Update and design of Matson's conference booth and displays.
CHALLENGE
Prior booth versions used core visual of map of ports-of-call and routes, which had grown (and would continue to grow) and thus render graphics outdated. Additionally, booth must be "all things to all people," and construction/visuals needed to accommodate this.
SOLUTION
Remove any specific map graphics and replace with general longitude/latitude globe image. For department or service specificity, free-standing banners were created, which could be mixed & matched according to the event's specific purposes.
RESULTS
Clean graphics and design offered lasting value, while branded color scheme reinforced company (and the Logistics collateral provided at the booth's debut). The creation of tailored retractable banners provided wide accessibility for multiple departments and services.
Conference collateral (Matson)
PROJECT
Shipping company and its intermodal subsidiary needed new cross-promotional collateral for their joint attendance at an important conference.
CHALLENGE
With substantial explanatory copy provided, visual harmony would be challenging.
SOLUTION
Used the tri-fold brochure structure to break down our offerings page-by-page: introduction/overview; ocean services, with the three-page interior showcasing Logistic's intermodal, warehousing and supply chain services. Wavy line graphic treatment created flow and consistency, while offering visual relief from the blocks of copy. And, design and color scheme of brochure complemented newly designed trade show booth.
RESULTS
Tri-fold brochure received with such popularity that print order was tripled, and structure is still used and refreshed as primary company collateral piece. Consistent design/color components reinforced Matson branding both on and off conference site.
Technology collateral (CapGemini)
PROJECT
Provide layout and visuals for joint-company supply chain services.
CHALLENGE
Design look & feel must be consistent with company branding but not exclusive to partners. Also, extremely tight turnaround time.
SOLUTION
For branding, maintained company colors, but used in complementary fashion with business partner's logos. Open, airy layout and clean informational graphics offset often techno-oriented copy. Usage of royalty purchased imagery for cover dramatically cut turnaround time.
RESULTS
Clients and their customers delighted with booklet.
Sales sheets (varied companies)
PROJECT
Generate higher customer response and sales though product collateral.
CHALLENGE
Time, cost, competition.
SOLUTION
Sales sheets offer dynamic visual display of company product, while copy conveys value. Offset or Canon printing as time/budget allowed.
RESULTS
Fast delivery; empowered salesforce; sales leads.
